GoDaddy just announced that they have taken an invest­ment from and formed a strate­gic rela­tion­ship with three of the largest pri­vate equity firms (KKR, Sil­ver Lake and TCV). The finan­cial details weren’t dis­closed but it’s fair to say that a com­pany that has grown largely by self-funding just got access to a very large war chest. This fol­lows closely on the final­iza­tion of Verizon’s acqui­si­tion of Ter­re­mark and the inte­gra­tion of the orga­ni­za­tions, in essence quickly bulk­ing up Ter­re­mark and giv­ing them access to the resources of Verizon.

Now I guess we just have to wait and see exactly what money buys.…
